The Leica Geosystems 3D DISTO is a unique tool for capturing and projecting accurate three dimensional measurements. The speed and precision of the 3D DISTO brings unprecedented efficiency to applications like:

  • Creating CAD templates: CNC is only good as your file. A 3D DISTO is the bridge between reality and CAD.   When you are cutting to fit and you know your original measurements are accurate, you can cut even the most expensive materials with confidence.
  • As-Built Measurements: The best way to eliminate surprises later in the job is to know what you are starting with.  The 3D Disto accurately captures 3D coordinates with the precision you need for planning. If your work involves expensive materials that are difficult to cut, transport or are processed off-site, accurate “as-built” measurements are critical. 
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) :  Take DXF data directly into your Windows tablet and use the 3D Disto to layout anchor points, transfer heights or verify critical construction locations.

DISTO on Roids

No matter what you are doing with a 3D DISTO, accuracy is paramount. Form follows function, which is why the 3D DISTO looks like a cross between a surveyor’s robot and a handheld DISTO. 

The 3D DISTO's motorized horizontal and vertical turning axes are essentially an automated turret -- get the laser point close to the right starting point manually, aim using the video feed by tapping your target on either the Control Unit tablet or a Windows tablet, then watch the 3D DISTO swivel and tilt until the laser point is in your crosshairs.

The laser gets all the glory, but it’s the components you can't see that ensure  1mm accuracy @10m (±1/16” accuracy at 33’). To measure with this accuracy the 3D Disto uses technology borrowed from surveying equipment (measuring a horizontal angle, a vertical angle and a slope distance and converting to XYZ coordinates). Fortunately, Leica Geosystems has been making angle measuring sensors for over 90 years.

  • The D810 Touch and S910 Touch are the 1st touchscreen laser distance meters.

    In addition to making it easier for you switch between the functions, you can use familiar pinch and expand motions on the touchscreen to zoom the camera in or out.

    In Measure in Picture mode, you can tap and hold the brackets used to identify the points in the picture that you want to measure.

     

  • Bluetooth DISTOs are useful for Building Information Modeling (BIM).

  • That's right: A sixteenth of an inch.

    Take out a pair of earbuds. Look at how wide the 1/8" jack is.

    Now divide that by half.

  • Pointfinder

    The onboard digital camera features a 4x digital zoom "point finder" that shows you where the dot is even if you can't see it with the naked eye. Put the crosshairs on the spot you are measuring to and hit the button. It's that simple.

  • Functions that need to know the angle of the DISTO when the shot is taken are enabled by a highly accurate 360° tilt sensor that determines the angle of the laser. These include Smart Horizontal and Height Tracking modes.

  • Store measurements and images with measurements associated with them.

  • This DISTO will take approximately 4000 measurments per charge.

  • "IP" stands for Ingress Protection. 

    The Ingress Protection (IP) rating was developed by the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) to create a standard of toughness for electronic devices: Higher numbers mean more resistance to dust and water.
