The Leica DISTO™ E7400x is a 9 measurement mode LDM intended for use on active job sites. It features a precise laser module, a backlit LCD display, a tilt sensor, and a ruggedized chassis.
The E7400x is rated IP65 -- totally protected from dust and low pressure water contact. The E7400x also has a 2 meter (~6') drop rating.
Measuring the diagonal distance of rough openings can be a challenge. It requires bending a tape just so to get both ends all the way into the corners, and the bigger the opening the harder it is to do that without having the tape collapse on you. The E7400x eliminates the hassle and makes it easy to get accurate diagonals using its intelligent end piece and a min/max mode.
There are often obstacles blocking the shot you need to get the measurement you want on an active job site. Smart Horizontal solves that problem by letting you shoot over obstacles to determine the level horizontal distance to your target. The tilt sensor automatically calculates the difference in length between the longer shot you take to clear obstacles and the horizontal line you need to get your measurement.
With a range of up to 395', a small wobble in the tool can translate to the laser point bouncing in wide arcs on your target . For best results when measuring long distances, keep your dot steady with a tripod and Leica's patented Fine Tune Adapter.
